Palm Springs Dining Room

I was able to tour what appears to be the designer David Jimenez's Palm Springs home last year, which I pictured here (it was on the market!).   Since then, I have seen the photos of the home crop up everywhere--the most recent being in the latest issue of Adore Magazine's feature on dining rooms.  It shows a great angle I didn't capture since all of the real estate information was splayed out on the table at the time (although I did post the same photo in my designer spotlight post on David Jimenez here):

Wow do I miss visiting Palm Springs on a whim....I noticed that I definitely infused aspects of what reminds me of Palm Springs decor into my home, guess it gives me a sense of being on a permanent vacation and a taste of California.

Lulu DK for Schumacher Children's

I am always excited to see new fabric lines especially by designers and tastemakers that I admire. Lulu DK recently came out with a children's line of fabrics for Schumacher:

There are some really great patterns here, and I think there is definitely a place in the market for children's fabric.  I would love to even see more out there!  See the whole collection here.

Enchanted Courtyards

I'm celebrating the outdoors this week on Travelmoon.  One of the things that made me fall in love and purchase our home is how the yard is set up as a courtyard on the side of our property.  The downstairs layout that encompasses the kitchen, dining space, and family room makes a U shape into our Master Bedroom and we have large windows looking outdoors towards this outdoor area.

A couple of years before, I had seen some model homes in Palm Springs that were set up in a similar way with lap pools and lush vegetation.  And in Guatemala a year later, I was enchanted with the many courtyards I found.  You would open the door to a shabby looking, lackluster cement block facade and find yourself in a lush oasis.  It would make me so happy to have my own courtyard that you can look at if not step out into (when weather isn't permitting) every day complete with some sort of water feature.  Our courtyard is decidedly bare with just a slab of cement and grass, but I hope to one day turn it into something that looks like the secret gardens I fell in love with in Central America:

SPRING!!

Now that Spring is in full swing, I have seen everything bloom around me while I take my daily neighborhood walks with Riley.  Living in San Diego I didn't really get to see much of a change in seasons and while Dallas does not exactly show the change of seasons in the extreme, I have seen all of the leafless brown trees turn to a sea of green.  I hope to make it to the Arboretum to see the gorgeous flowers (is there anything more Spring than flowers?) like I did last year when I took these photos:

Roman Shades with Trim

With this new house I have developed quite an affinity for roman shades.  We have white roman shades in our bedroom and also added a pattern twist on a roman shade to the nursery.  The only windows that are left bare in the house are in the game room/play room upstairs that I recently updated with pillows (see here).

I didn't know what I wanted to do with the windows when we moved in because they provide the only view in the home and we don't need to cover them for privacy reasons so we did nothing.  Yet it now looks unfinished, so I would like to add something there sometime soon.  While I like how soothing the plain white roman shades are in our bedroom I would like to do something a little more fun in there without being committed to a pattern.  I have always loved the look of colored trim on a stark white shade like these inspiration photos:

Mint Round Up

When I think of Spring colors pastels usually come to mind, and they also dominated the runways this year.  Currently, I am loving anything mint so I thought I would conjure up a little round up to satisfy this color craving:

1. Paloma Chiffon Blouse $36
2. Kendra Scott Shae Earring $34.97
3. Asos Leather Portfolio Clutch $107.43
4. Dolce Vita Gladiator Sandal $169
5. Zara Pleated Short Skirt $49.90
6. Topshop Petite Moto Jamie Jeans $80
7. Essie Nail Polish Mint Candy Apple $8

Monday Escapes: Four Seasons Golden Triangle

I haven't done a Monday Escapes in a little while and this one is quite extravagant.  One of my best friends just booked her honeymoon, and they are heading to the Four Season Golden Triangle in Chiang Rai for part of their trip.   Frequently voted one of the best hotels in the world, it is situated in the Golden Triangle of Thailand where Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand converge.  The tented "camp" that is the Four Seasons is supposed to have amazing spa treatments amongst the stunning scenery and has been high on my list of places I need to stay one day.  I have been to the nearby Chiang Mai and hiked the lush forests and camped in local villages, which was an incredible experience but definitely not the luxury that the Four Seasons provides by any stretch of the imagination:

Wall Panel Inspiration

I am quite obsessed with Jessica Helgerson's design portfolio but something about the simplicity of this image really gets me.  Everything looks airy, fresh, and clean, and I love those wall panels.  I can't stop thinking of how I can get something similar to hang on my dining room walls:

I think my best option is buying some chinoiserie Asian inspired wallpaper and framing it myself when I get a minute for such a project, which doesn't appear to be any time soon :)

I Don't Think We are in California Anymore

One thing seems to be inevitable in Dallas are the tornadoes that come with the arrival of Spring and this year has been no exception.  Although this time the tornadoes seem to have hit a little closer to home (literally) than in years past.  While retreating to a windowless bathroom with Riley in her bouncer I definitely dreamed of picking up and moving back to California.  I am so not used to extreme weather of any sort, as even a storm with any sort of thunder and lightning is a rarity there.  Mother nature is just quite unpredictable and is nothing to take for granted as highlighted by the images below.  The first was actually a photo taken of a tornado that struck Dallas yesterday:

John Robshaw for Duralee

While reading through this month's issue of House Beautiful I saw that John Robshaw is doing a line of fabrics for Duralee.  Wonder what the price point will be?  So far I really like what I see...
