I've mentioned that one of my favorite pastimes is to venture into hotels and check out the interiors. That's why a major draw to Miami was the thrill of being able to see some hotels designed by Kelly Wearstler in person. First, was The Tides Hotel:
Meandering down Ocean Drive, you reach the Art Deco facade of The Tides. You can spend your time seated in the lounge areas leading up to the lobby for some prime people watching on the beachfront of South Beach.
The lobby is casual yet still refined.
The adjoining area was set up for a wedding. The faux tortoise shells on the wall was an unexpected and fun touch.
The next stop was The Viceroy. I have visited the Wearstler designed Viceroy Palm Springs, and it was interesting to see Wearstler's versatility. It is evident through these hotel visits that Wearstler is able to infuse each place with a distinct look while retaining her signature glamorous style:
The rooftop pool is not to be missed!
Omg. Those shells on the wall are so cool!

Oh Ms. Wearstler, you saucy design vixen!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I could ever LIVE in it (have you SEEN her version of a Malibu beach house?!), but I could look at her design all day long...forget about the very significant Miami-people watching, the decor-watching is where it's at. Another great FL post, thanks!
Kate, I am so glad you went! Omg, Kelly is just plainly wonderful!

I'm a big fan of Kelly Wreastler's work. I love all the parts, especially the elegance that transmits through colors and volumes. I think it would match perfectly with the elegant Koket’s console Orcheadea. Koket is a brand of furniture that I met recently. It has a unique and glamorous collection and is highly influenced by the decorative arts and fashion.
ReplyDeleteTake a Look!
