I haven't made my love for stripes a secret, one must only take a peek into my closet and will agree. I am drawn to anything striped when it comes to fashion (see here), so why not translate that adoration to interiors. Whether it be in a nursery, hallway, entryway, headboard, accent wall, or even a whole floor, stripes add just the right touch of interest to a space:
I am DIGGING the stripes on the ceiling! I've painted ceilings before and I've been dying to do stripes on my walls...how come I never thought to combine the two?! Turns out I'm not as smart as I think I am. Crap. I love the idea of the pale grey, but on the ceiling. As much as I enjoy looking at all the wacky stripes, I do think that it might get really old looking at some of those high-contrast color combinations, ya know?
Saw this travel deal and thought of you since we talked about Iceland. For the next 96 hours, the cost of a weekend getaway to Iceland from New York -- with tour options to explore famed sites such as the Blue Lagoon -- is reduced to $599 per person. The package costs less than the usual price of airfare alone.
The deal, for travel in June, includes: - Roundtrip nonstop flights to Reykjavik from New York - Two nights at the Icelandair Hotel Loftleidir (additional nights for $79 per person) - Buffet breakfast daily - Weekend departures on June 2, 3, 9, 11 - Choice of three sightseeing tours, including visits to Iceland's famed Blue Lagoon and scenic Reykjanes Peninsula http://www.travelzoo.com/newsflash/84599114-1006332/
@Brassy-you painted stripes on your ceilings...was it difficult? I agree, I love looking at a whole striped room, but I don't think I could live in one...
@Sarah-Thanks so much for letting me know about this deal! I am going to check it out now. The weather in Iceland must be so much better in June rather than March when I saw that last deal...and this deal is even better!
I read this as I'm sitting here in a striped sweater! Coincidence? Not really... I'm a huge fan of stripes too. I love the monochrome versions you posted. I have to try this out on interiors too!
This is an unbelievable post on stripes. I hadn't seen rooms with a striped ceiling. I love how it draws your eye up. I wonder how difficult it would be to do do that to a room.
I absolutely want to try stripes in my house, I love that striped ceiling! I hadn't seen that yet!
ReplyDeleteI'm all about the stripes! (In fact, I am decked out in stripes today!) Particularly love the grey horizontal ones as it matches my top!
ReplyDelete@Kelly- I want to do a striped ceiling in a bedroom too...It seems difficult to do by myself though-would have to channel my inner Michelangelo!
ReplyDelete@Meghan-I am in stripes today too :)

ReplyDeleteLove it! @designershay just did her daughter's room in stripes - the ceiling only, I believe. Such a fun concept!
ReplyDeleteI love the settled colors. The black and white looks good, but i wouldn't do it in my home (I think I would get tired of it)
ReplyDeleteLove the black and white stripes. Looking everywhere to see where I can fit them in!
